Moving Cultures: An Interdisciplinary Student Conference on Dance and Musical Movement Research in Debrecen

The Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen together with the Department of Musicology of the University of Ljubljana and the Centre for Postgraduate Training of the Debrecen Reformed Theological University is inviting faculty researchers and graduate students to participate in the first Interdisciplinary Student Conference on Dance and Musical Movement Research. In this regard, we kindly request your assistance in disseminating the conference details to your colleagues and students.

Here's everything you need to know about the conference:
In the 21st century, dance is becoming an increasingly researched phenomenon in many disciplines. Acknowledging dance as cultural heritage, a discipline that can be registered, examined, and recreated through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR) as movement and educational material, artistic product, cultural organizing force, and as a tool for health preservation and mental state improvement, dance becomes the focal point of the conference that will be examined in a multidisciplinary manner. Recognizing this area in various disciplines, the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen, in partnership with the Department of Musicology of the University of Ljubljana and the Centre for Postgraduate Training of the Debrecen Reformed Theological University, is organizing the first Interdisciplinary Student Conference on Dance and Musical Body Movement Research on 21 March 2025 at the Faculty of Informatics (Kassai Campus).
The University of Debrecen (UniDeb) has a long-standing research tradition and has nurtured many outstanding researchers over the decades. As such, this conference was initiated through the efforts of its doctoral students. After the first conference in March, the organizers decided to make the Moving Cultures conference an annual event.
The conference invites representatives of all disciplines, particularly doctoral students and young researchers, to participate in a 15-minute presentation. Researchers from any discipline can apply as long as their topics are related to movement research, motion studies, dance research, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and 3D motion. Accepted abstracts and the authors' short biographical notes will be published in booklet format.
Presenters with accepted abstracts will be notified by email correspondence by the end of January 2025. No fees will be required for students. For faculty members, a participation fee of €100 will be collected. Online participation is also available for applicants with accepted abstracts.
The Secretariat is accepting abstracts until 31 December 2024.
